cleanBC EV Charging Rebate Program
The Province and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) are making it more affordable for people to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in their homes, businesses, and communities.
B.C. residents, businesses, and municipalities can receive higher rebates for EV charging stations through the cleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate and Fleets programs. For a limited time, funding will cover as much as 75% of eligible purchase and installation costs for EV charging stations, which is an increase from the previous 50% coverage. Level 1 Residential EV Charger
Vehicle owners are often supplied with Level 1 chargers from automobile manufacturers at the time of purchase of an EV to use at home with 120v standard outlets. Although the convenience of being able to plug this charger into a standard electrical outlet, the rate of charge is low and may not be adequate for people with long commutes, or vehicles that have high-capacity batteries.
• Charges 8km per hour
• Takes 12 to 20 hours to fully charge a battery EV
• 6 to 12 hours for a plug-in hybrid.
Level 2 Residential EV Charger
Upgrading from a Level 1 to a Level 2 charger is a practical investment for residential locations. At 240v, these chargers consume less electrical power and can charge up to 12 times faster than a Level 1 charger. Green Power Electric is certified by EVITP to design and install these installations.
• Charges 30km per hour
• Takes 6 to 14 hours to fully charge a battery EV
• 4 to 8 hours for a plug-in hybrid.
Level 3 Commercial and Fleet Service EV Fast Chargers
Level 3 EV charging is also called fast charging and is significantly faster than Level 2 chargers. These chargers utilize three-phase 480v power to charge electric vehicles in minutes to a few hours, depending on the charge rate of your vehicle. These installations are designed for commercial and industrial locations.
• Charges up to 100 km per 30 minutes or 80% charge at 50 kW
• Takes 1 to 4 hours to fully charge a battery EV
• 15 minutes to 3 hours for a plug-in hybrid.

The ChargePoint Installation Training Program is a series of online courses that takes an installer from site assessment all the way through power-up and pinpointing. Installers who take this training will have all the information needed to efficiently and accurately install ChargePoint charging stations.
